A big "Thank you" from the CAFOD Group to the many parishioners who signed cards last year in support of CAFOD's "Power to Be" campaign to persuade the World Bank to support renewable rather than fossil-fuel energy projects in developing countries. In a major policy shift, the Bank has now announced that it will stop its support for oil and gas exploration and production after 2019. You really made a difference!

HOW CAN I CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME?
We can regularly ask ourselves,
“What kind of world do we want to leave to those who come after us,
to children who are now growing up?” (Pope Francis , Laudato Si, 160)

FEEDING THE FIVE THOUSAND:
“When they had eaten enough he said to the disciples, ‘Pick up the pieces left over, so that nothing gets wasted.’

TO FOLLOW Frank Hampson ? For years, right up to his recent death, Frank has kept our candles in good order, cleaned the candlesticks (not just polishing), and polished all brasses. It has been one of the really valuable acts of service to the parish. Will YOU offer to take it on, please?

The Scout Group needs an auditor which essentially involves scrutinising the annual accounts. Anyone willing to help or wants a chat about the role, please contact me: Ian Mulholland (Group Scout Master) Mobile: 07944 857813

OUR LADY’S HIGH SCHOOL is interviewing for the post of lay chaplain. The Head and staff are very supportive of the lay person who does this work; it is a key role in the formation of our children and young people. Please pray that a good candidate may be found.

Our Bishop asks. “Do you support Catholic schools
and the right of Catholics to send their children to them?
Then we need you to make your voice heard”

.The government had promised to let new schools be built
to take in the Catholic children who in some areas are without places.
Now they may say they must accept 50% non-Catholics,
even when Catholics are clamouring for places.
They acknowledged that this policy discriminates against Catholics
and promised to abandon it;
now we need to tell them to keep that promise!

Please visit: http://catholicnews.org.uk/
or search for ‘Catholic Education’,

Please email the Government and urge them to remove this “cap” ,
(or write to the Education Minister)

GIFT AID GIVING is easy and painless. You don’t pay more tax; the HMRC gives to the parish the tax you’ve already paid on your parish donations. You don’t have to give the same amount every week. You give in the collection by putting your cash in a numbered envelope (or by cheque or a bank Standing Order). We provide the envelopes. Your details are kept private. It increases your donation to the parish by 25 pence in every pound, without cost to you.

FOR EXISTING GIFT-AIDERS. A Gift Aid tax reclaim will be submitted shortly to HMRC. Please notify us if you are no longer a tax payer or you paid insufficient tax during 2017/18 to cover the tax that will be reclaimed on all your donations given under Gift Aid to all charities during the tax year, at the present standard rate of tax of 20%, 25p is reclaimed for every £1 donated.
PLEASE HELP WITH EITHER OF THESE MATTERS:
See Mr. John Marshall or Father Bob.
