TO GO TO BISHOP PAUL’S ORDINATION ?
TICKETS FOR Bishop Paul’s ORDINATION,
Monday 9th April 2018 - 11.30 am
We’d like everyone to be able
to attend, but there isn’t room. Each parish is allocated 2 or
3 tickets; people without tickets will not get in. If you would like
to go, print your NAME AND PHONE NUMBER on
one of the slips in the church porch. The names will go into a draw.
If you are 25 or under, indicate your age on your slip of paper, because
the “25-and-under” names will go into a separate draw, to
ensure the younger age is reasonably represented.
The draw will be made here on 25th March.
LENT IS POSITIVE, IT CAN BE A JOY.
It strengthens our motivation to “Live Simply”.
We pray about Our Lord’s 40 days’ fasting, his dedication
to his Father’s will, and his refusal to use his power for his
own appetite or comfort. He is the Lord of all creation. All we can
do to reduce waste, to treat creation reverently, to re-use all we can,
reflects our Lord’s humble attitude, who did not seek his own
benefit, but that of all.
.As Lent progresses, it might show us our greed: a motive for Confession.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered Saturdays 9.30 – 10.30,
but at other times on request.
Our Bishop asks. “Do you support Catholic schools
and the right of Catholics to send their children to them?
Then we need you to make your voice heard”
.The government had
promised to let new schools be built
to take in the Catholic children who in some areas are without places.
Now they may say they must accept 50% non-Catholics,
even when Catholics are clamouring for places.
They acknowledged that this policy discriminates against Catholics
and promised to abandon it;
now we need to tell them to keep that promise!
or search for ‘Catholic Education’,
Please email the Government and urge them to remove this “cap”
(or write to the Education Minister)

GIFT AID GIVING
is easy and painless. You don’t pay more tax; the HMRC gives to
the parish the tax you’ve already paid on your parish donations.
You don’t have to give the same amount every week. You give in
the collection by putting your cash in a numbered envelope (or by cheque
or a bank Standing Order). We provide the envelopes. Your details are
kept private. It increases your donation to the parish by 25 pence in
every pound, without cost to you.
FOR EXISTING GIFT-AIDERS. A
Gift Aid tax reclaim will be submitted shortly to HMRC. Please notify
us if you are no longer a tax payer or you paid insufficient tax during
2017/18 to cover the tax that will be reclaimed on all your donations
given under Gift Aid to all charities during the tax year, at the present
standard rate of tax of 20%, 25p is reclaimed for every £1 donated.
